"Coloured with the collective awe that humanity shares for our fragile finite selves in the infinite vastness of the Universe, these paintings are a response to the ancestral connections present in these massive stone and earthworks like Avebury, as well as an exploration of their astronomical significance."

.:about the work:.

letters to the cosmos. poems to life. laments, dirges, reels, symphonies,
and the weaving of music, paint, light, color, wave, particle, mind and hand.

.:inspiration:.

the void, childhood dread and wonder at the billions of stars overhead in dark English skies....prehistoric megaliths, menhirs and longbarrows our ancestors built... land, landscape, cosmos....the human desire to solidify this incalculable chaos in finite ways, our first marks on stone... our language.... our compulsion to communicate, art and science as complimentary impulses.

.:the paintings:.

"polar light": light and color studies after journeys to both the Antarctic and the North Pole.

the "helios" series:
a reflection on the lifegiving power, beauty and light creation of this star at the centre of our solar system...the deeper layers of text in the paintings are the science of the sun, how it produces light through fission/producing particles which are singularly integral to our existence.

"sunstones series" - solidified light - fragments of the helios paintings on stone

"bluestones series" - a lament for light, using asemic/sculptural texts

"sun lament" or "four fifths" - we are in the last fifth of the relationship between sunlight and life on earth. one billion years left in our five billion year run....a dirge on the end of our star, the sun, the suncircle area is exactly one fifth of the canvas, using diatomaceous earth as a medium - painting history/geology/life into the canvas.

the "astrolith & megalith" series: By using multiple layers of scientific text, mathmatical/sacred space designs and symbolic textural patterns, the paintings as a harmonious whole are balancing and contemplative. art and science together again.
